WARNING! Factory resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all of your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory, including apps, contacts, downloaded content, media files etc. Furthermore, the phone’s settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before factory resetting your device, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up data, or this thread for instructions on how you can restore data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    4. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
    5. Select or clear the check boxes associated with “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data”
    6. Tap “Backup account” and if necessary, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with your Google account
    7. Tap “Factory data reset”
    8. Optionally, enable “Erase SD Card”
    9. Tap “Reset Phone” > “Next” > “Delete all”
    10. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone using the method above, alternatively you can try factory resetting it via the Recovery menu. Recovery can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses, as follows:

    1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, release and quickly re-hold the “Power” key
    4. When the “Factory data reset” screen appears, release all hardware buttons
    5. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings”, highlight “Yes” and press “Power”

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Once you’re done resetting your phone, it’s recommended to check if newer software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Make sure your phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
    2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    3. Open “Settings”
    4. If necessary, press “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    5. Swipe to “System” and tap “About phone”
    6. Tap “Update Center” > “System updates”
    7. Tap “Check for Updates”. If a newer software version is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
