    6. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

    Turn off Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling connectivity features when they are not in use (Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, Bluetooth), you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to disable these features

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications on your phone can affect battery performance even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Access the “Settings” menu
    2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
    3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
    4. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By minimizing sync, you can improve battery life in the long run. To change account sync options:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal”
    4. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
    5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you wish to turn off

    Switch from 4G to 2G:

    1. Launch the “Settings” menu
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Select “2G”

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. As such, you should check if newer updates are available, and keep your OS up to date.

    1. Access the “Settings” menu
    2. Scroll down to “System”
    3. Tap “About phone”
    4. Tap “System updates” and if a newer OS version is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
