    WARNING! When you master reset your smartphone, all of your personal information stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including media files, contacts, ringtones, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

    NOTE: Before you reset the Tribute 5, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up your data. Visit this thread for instructions on restoring data.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
    3. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    4. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
    5. Check the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    6. Tap “Backup account”
    7. If necessary, create or sign in with your Google account
    8. Tap “Factory data reset”
    9. Optionally, you can also enable “Erase SD Card”. WARNING! This will format the SD card and all data stored on it will be deleted
    10. Tap “Reset Phone” > “Next” > “Delete all”
    11. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Master Reset via Recovery:

    NOTE: In case your phone prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

    1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume Down” simultaneously
    3. At the “LG” logo, release and quickly re-hold “Power”
    4. When prompted with the “Factory data reset” screen, use “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    6. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
    7. Press “Power”
    8. Highlight “Yes” using “Volume Down”
    9. Press “Power” one last time and wait for your phone to reset and reboot

    Check for OS Updates:

    NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check for new software updates. To do so:

    1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
    2. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    3. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
    4. Check if a new OS version is available, and follow the on-screen steps to download and install it if necessary
