WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, media files, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you reset your phone you can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data. You can also visit this thread for a guide on restoring data on the LG K8.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    3. Go to “Settings”
    4. Tap “General” > “Backup & reset”
    5. Enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    6. Tap “Backup account” and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
    7. Tap “Factory data reset”
    8. At the WARNING message, choose whether you want to “Erase SD card” as well
    9. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next” > “Delete all”
    10. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Factory Reset Using Hardware Keys:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses. To do this:

    1. First, turn off the phone
    2. With the device turned off, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold the “Power” button (while holding “Volume down”)
    4. After a moment, “Factory data reset” will appear on the screen. Release all buttons
    5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Yes”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset the phone

    Check for Firmware Updates:

NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, you should check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Access the “Settings” menu
    2. Tap “General” > “About phone”
    3. Tap “Software info”
    4. Check if a new software version is available, and if necessary follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
