WARNING! By factory resetting your device, all personal data stored on the internal memory will be deleted, including apps, contacts, ringtones, media files, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values; however data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be deleted.

NOTE: Before you factory reset your phone, you can visit this thread for instructions regarding how to back up and restore app data, contacts, and media files on the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal”
    4. Tap “Backup and reset” and optionally, enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Restore”
    5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
    6. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter the necessary PIN / password to proceed
    7. Tap “Continue” > “Delete all” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or is otherwise unresponsive or doesn’t allow you to reset it via Settings, you can try resetting it from the Android System Recovery menu instead. Recovery can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

    1. First, turn off your phone, if necessary
    2. Next, press and hold “Power”, “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power”
    4. When the “Android” logo appears, release “Volume Up” and “Home” as well
    5. Wait to gain access to the Recovery menu (this can take up to 1 minute)
    6. Navigate the Recovery menu using “Volume down”. Press the button repeatedly to highlight “Wipe data / factory reset”
    7. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    8. Press “Volume down” to select “Yes – delete all user data”
    9. Press “Power” to confirm
    10. After the reset is done, “Reboot system now” will be highlighted
    11. Press “Power” one last time to confirm and reboot your phone

    Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to and tap “About device”
    4. Check if the software is up to date. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates
