WARNING! When you master reset your phone, all personal data located on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, apps, downloaded content, ringtones, contacts etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before resetting the phone, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up and restore personal data on the Coolpad Catalyst. Keep in mind that data located on the SIM and SD Cards will not be deleted by the factory reset.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
    4. Tap “Factory data reset”
    5. In case your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password / pattern to proceed
    6. Tap “Reset Phone” to confirm

Factory Reset via Android System Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the phone using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

    1. Make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time
    3. When the phone turns on, release “Power”
    4. At the “Android System Recovery” screen, release “Volume Up” too
    5. Press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Use “Volume down” to highlight “Yes – erase all user data”
    8. Press “Power” to confirm
    9. Once the reset is complete, “reboot system now” should be highlighted
    10. Press “Power” to confirm and reboot the device

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a factory reset, it’s recommended that you check if new OS updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “System”
    3. Tap “About Phone”
    4. Tap “System updates”
    5. In case an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it. NOTE: this process may require a reboot
