    5. Return to the “Display” menu
    6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value, like “15 seconds”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen, using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Location” tiles to disable these features
    3. For more GPS settings, first open “Settings”
    4. Then, tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. To turn off Hotspot, return to “Settings”
    6. Next, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Disable “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

    Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can improve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party applications can perform regular background tasks, and can affect battery life in the process. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and go to “Downloaded”
    4. Select the desired app
    5. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn the app Off
    6. To remove the application, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By decreasing the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts”
    4. Select an account to change its sync options
    5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable

    Keep The Software Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and as such it’s recommended to keep the phone’s OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

    1. Open “Apps”
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to, and tap “About phone”
    4. Tap “System updates”
    5. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it (NOTE: this process will require you to reboot your phone)
