    Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the “Apps” drawer
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device”
    4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
    5. Turn on “Battery saver”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth - you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these options
    3. For additional GPS options, go to “Settings” > “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    4. To disable Hotspot, first return to “Settings”
    5. Next, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Turn off “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

    Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Select “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    2. Tap “Display”
    3. Turn off “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
    4. Tap “Brightness level”
    5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
    6. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
    7. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your apps / accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
    3. Select an account to change sync options
    4. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party applications can perform regular background tasks, and thus they can affect battery life even when they are not in use. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third party apps.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Access “Downloaded”
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to disable the app
    5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the phone’s OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available. If so, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it. NOTE: this process will require a reboot
