    Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness”
    4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to reduce screen luminosity
    5. To change the timeout duration, first go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
    6. Select a lower value, like “15 seconds”

    Disable Connectivity Features When Unused:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location”, and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
    3. For more GPS options, first go to “Settings”
    4. Next, tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Tap to disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

    Use 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery life and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party applications can perform regular background tasks, and thus they can affect battery life even when they are unused. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and swipe to “Downloaded”
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
    5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your applications and / or accounts to reduce the amount of data being synced, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
    4. Select an account type and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable

    Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the phone up to date at all times. To check for new software updates:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    4. Tap “System updates” and, if applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install any available updates. NOTE: this process will require a reboot
