    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
    4. Turn on “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
    3. For additional options, open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options
    7. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS)” and “Bluetooth” tiles to turn these features OFF
    3. Next open “Settings” and tap “Location” (GPS)
    4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Tap “Tethering & Portable Hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can perform regular background processes, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or uninstalling unused apps from the device, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All Apps” is selected from the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
    5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: You can also uninstall apps by opening the apps drawer and dragging > dropping the desired app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top of the screen.

    Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
    4. Select an account and disable the desired sync options

    Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements. Thus, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Verify if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply available updates. (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
