    Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal data stored within the app, including settings, profiles, high scores, login and credit card information, save files etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing all personal app data, clear ONLY the application’s cache.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
    4. Tap “Application manager”
    5. Swipe to “All” or “Downloaded”
    6. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
    7. If needed, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

    Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try solving these problems by clearing the cache partition. Clearing the cache can yield similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data on the device storage.

    1. Turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Power”, “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
    3. Release “Power” when the “Samsung” logo appears
    4. At the “Android” screen, release “Volume Up” and “Home” as well
    5. Once in the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
    6. Press “Power” to confirm
    7. After the cache partition is cleared, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
    8. Press “Power” to confirm and restart your phone

NOTE: If clearing the cache didn’t solve the issues, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are turned off by default.

    1. First turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Power”
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press & hold “Volume down” instead
    4. Once the phone finishes restarting, release all buttons. A “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left area of the home screen
    5. To remove an application, go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    6. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager”
    7. Go to “Downloaded” and select the app you want to remove
    8. Tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm and remove the application
    9. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and then tap “Reboot” to confirm
