    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
    4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
    2. Drag the “Brightness” slider to the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    4. Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Automatic brightness”
    5. For more timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

    Turn Off Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS when unused, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
    3. For additional options open “Settings”
    4. Tap “Location” (GPS) > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Then tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Turn on “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Ensure “All Apps” is enabled from the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Tap the desired application
    5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop”
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Another way to uninstall an app is by opening the apps drawer and dragging > dropping the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps / accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts”
    4. Select an account to change its sync settings

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and as such, it’s generally recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply available updates. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding
