    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” to disable the features
    3. For GPS options, first open “Settings”

    5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings”
    6. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Turn off “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Under “Wireless & networks” tap “More”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G” to confirm

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    3. Turn off “Adaptive brightness” if needed
    4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
    5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
    6. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the apps / accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
    3. Select an account to make changes to its sync settings
    4. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes even when not actively in use, and thus they can affect battery life in the long run. By disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and go to “Downloaded”
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
    5. To remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the software up to date at all times. To check if new software updates are available for download:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if new system updates are available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
