    Clear App Data / Cache:

NOTE: In case one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app’s data / cache.

WARNING! When you clear an application’s data, all personal data stored within the app – including settings, profiles, save files, high scores, credit card and login information etc. – will be deleted. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the application’s cache.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
    4. Tap “Application manager” and swipe to “Downloaded” or “All”
    5. Select the desired application
    6. Tap “Clear cache”
    7. If clearing the app’s cache didn’t solve the issues, yap “Clear data” > “OK” to confirm (read WARNING above)

    Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can yield the same results as a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory.

    1. Turn the phone OFF
    2. Press and hold “Power”, “Volume Up”, and “Home” at the same time
    3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
    4. At the “Android” screen, release “Volume Up” and “Home” too
    5. Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “wipe cache partition”
    6. Press “Power” to confirm the highlighted option
    7. After the cache partition is clear, highlight “Reboot system now”
    8. Press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to uninstall application from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party applications are turned off by default.

    1. Turn the phone OFF
    2. Press and hold “Power”
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume Down” instead
    4. Once the device reboots, release all button. NOTE: a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
    5. To uninstall an app, first go to “Settings”
    6. Then scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
    7. Tap “Application manager”
    8. Go to “Downloaded” and select the app you want to remove
    9. Tap “Uninstall” two times to remove the app from the phone
    10. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Reboot” in the pop-up window
