    Turn Battery Saving Mode ON:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
    4. Enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling unused connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when these features are unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
    3. For additional options, access “Settings”
    4. Scroll to and tap “Location”
    5. Then tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    6. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to “Settings”
    7. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Go to “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Drag the “brightness” slider to the left to decrease screen luminosity
    3. For additional options, access “Settings”
    4. Then scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. To decrease timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ / apps’ settings to minimize sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts”
    4. Select an account to change its sync settings

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, and as such they can affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Make sure “All Apps” is checked in the drop-down menu at the top of the screen
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
    5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” to confirm

NOTE: Another method to remove an app from the phone is to open the apps drawer, and drag & drop the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life, and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date. To verify if updates are available:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll down to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Verify if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to install and download available updates. (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot so it’s recommended to save any unsaved work before proceeding)
