    Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise it doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, you will delete all personal data stored within the app, including login information, credit card information, high scores, user profiles, game save files etc. To avoid losing data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Applications”
    4. Go to “Application manager”
    5. Access the “Downloaded” or “All” tabs
    6. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
    7. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” to confirm (read WARNING above)

    Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering factory resetting, alternatively you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition to save these issues. Doing so can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data.

    1. Turn off the phone if necessary
    2. Press and hold “Power”, “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time
    3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
    4. At the “Android” logo, release “Home” and “Volume Up” too
    5. In the Android Recovery menu, press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Once the cache is cleared highlight “Reboot system now”
    8. Press “Power”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.

    1. If necessary, turn the phone OFF
    2. Press and hold “Power”
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
    4. After the phone reboots, release “Volume down”. NOTE: a “Save Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the home screen
    5. To remove an app, first launch “Settings”
    6. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
    7. Tap “Application manager” and go to “Downloaded”
    8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” twice to confirm
    9. After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you would do normally
