    NOTE: For a guide on how to back up data on the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge, visit this thread.

    Restore Contacts from SD Card:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Applications” > “Contacts”
    4. Go to “Import / Export contacts”
    5. Select to “Import” > “SD Card”
    6. Choose to import a single or multiple vCard files
    7. If necessary, select the vCard file you want to restore
    8. Select to restore contacts on “Device storage” or to sync them with “Google”

    Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
    3. Go to “Google”
    4. Tap your email address or username at the top
    5. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
    6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

    Restore Media Files from an SD Card:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “My Files” and scroll to “Local storage”
    3. Tap “SD Card” > “More” > “Edit”
    4. Tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
    5. Tap “More” > “Move” > “Device storage”
    6. Navigate to and select the desired target folder, or tap “Create folder”
    7. Tap “Move here” to confirm

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Samsung phone to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media Device” from the “Notification” area
    3. Launch the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the Mac storage
    4. Copy and transfer the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directory they originate from
    5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

    1. Connect the Samsung phone to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    3. Launch Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / restore”
    4. Go to the “Restore” tab
    5. Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to restore. Alternatively click “Select all”
    6. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts
    7. Once the process is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
    8. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
