WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, ringtones, applications, downloaded content, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected. For instructions on how to back up data, visit this thread. For instructions on how to restore data, check this thread.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
    3. Tap “Backup & reset”
    4. Optionally, tick or clear the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    5. Next, tap “Backup account” and if necessary, sign in with your Google account
    6. Tap “Factory data reset”
    7. At the “Erase SD Card” prompt, choose whether to erase the microSD card too
    8. Tap “Reset Phone” when ready and tap “Next”
    9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or doesn’t allow you to reset it via settings, alternatively you can reset the device from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing the following:

    1. First ensure the phone is powered Off
    2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
    3. When the “LG” logo appears, release and quickly re-hold “Power”
    4. When prompted with the “Factory data reset” screen, release all buttons
    5. From the reset menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, highlight “Yes”
    8. Press “Power” to confirm

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you have factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
    3. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    4. Access “System info”
    5. Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates
