    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning the phone’s connectivity features OFF when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “location” tiles to turn the features OFF
    3. For additional GPS options, open “Settings” and tap “Location”
    4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. For Hotspot settings, first go back to the “Settings” menu
    6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Access “Mobile Networks” and tap “Preferred network type”
    4. Select “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home scree, swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
    3. Next, open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    4. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
    5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Another method of removing an app is by dragging the app shortcut and dropping it over the “Uninstall” section at the top of the home screen (visible only when dragging app shortcuts).

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps’ sync options to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
    3. Select the desired account
    4. Enable or disable the available sync options as desired

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the download and apply the update. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
