    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
    4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
    3. For additional options, open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. For more options, go to “Settings”
    4. Tap “Location” (GPS) > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. For additional Hotspot options, return to “Settings”
    6. Then tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Go to “Mobile Networks” and tap “Preferred network type”
    4. Select “2G” to confirm

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Ensure “All Apps” is checked in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired application
    5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop”
    6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Another method of removing an app is to drag the app’s shortcut from the apps drawer and drop it over the “Uninstall” section at the top of the home screen (only visible when dragging app shortcuts)

    Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your apps/accounts’ sync options to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
    3. Select the desired account to change its sync options
    4. Enable or disable the available sync options to reduce sync

    Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the available update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
