    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
    3. Go to “Settings”
    4. For GPS options, tap “Location”
    5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    6. For Hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
    3. Launch “Settings” for additional options
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired app
    5. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
    6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Another method of removing an app is by dragging and dropping its shortcut from the apps drawer and over the “Uninstall” section at the top (visible only when dragging app shortcuts)

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ / apps’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select an existing account
    4. Disable the desired sync options to reduce sync

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Verify if a new OS version is available and, if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
