    Back Up & Restore App Data:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup & reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your Google account
    5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps and/or signing in with your Google backup account

    Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Contacts
    3. Tap “More” > “Settings
    4. If you wish to include phone contacts to your Samsung or Google account before the backup, tap “Move device contacts to
    5. Next, tap “Accounts” in “Settings” and select the desired Google or Samsung account
    6. Tap “More” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google or Samsung backup account.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
    3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC” and install the app on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
    5. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    6. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    7. Navigate to and copy the media files on the phone
    8. Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    9. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Restore Media files from a Windows PC:

    1. Follow the same first 5 steps detailed in the guide above
    2. Then, open the File Explorer on the computer
    3. Navigate to the media file backups on the computer storage
    4. Copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
    5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

    NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

    1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Head down to Samsung Kies
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies
    4. Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
    5. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone, at the prompt or from the “Notification” shade
    6. Open Kies on the Mac and click the “Back up / restore” tab
    7. Access the “Back up” tab and tick the boxes next to “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
    8. Click “Backup
    9. After the backup is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash Can” to eject it
    10. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

    1. Follow the first 5 steps above
    2. Open Kies on the Mac and click the “Back up / restore” tab
    3. Access the “Restore” tab and tick the boxes next to “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to restore
    4. Click “Restore” to begin the sync. Follow any additional on-screen prompts if necessary
    5. After the process is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can
    6. Safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
