    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Access “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu”
    5. Enable “Battery saver”

Turn the Phone’s Connectivity Features OFF:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused – including Wi-Fi, Location (GPS), Bluetooth, and Hotspot – you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
    3. Return to “Settings”
    4. Scroll to and tap “Location” (GPS)
    5. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Disable “Tethering & portable hotspot”

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your smartphone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Go to “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    4. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All Apps” is selected from the drop-down menu
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
    5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Another method to remove an app is to open the apps drawer and then drag and drop the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your account’s sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts”
    4. Select the desired account
    5. Change the account’s sync settings to reduce sync

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
