    Back up App Data:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to “Cloud and accounts
    3. Tap “Backup & reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
    5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with your backup account

    Back Up Contacts on a Gmail/Samsung Account:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings
    3. Tap “Cloud and accounts
    4. Select the desired account and make sure “Contacts” is checked
    5. Tap “More” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: You can restore contacts by syncing them with your device the next time you sign in with your backup account.

    Back Up Contacts to SD Card:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu
    3. Go to “Settings
    4. Tap “Contacts to display” > “All contacts
    5. Select “Import/Export contacts
    6. Tap “Import to SD Card” and optionally, enter the desired name for the backup file
    7. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Restore Contacts from SD Storage:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu
    3. Access “Settings
    4. If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” > “All contacts
    5. Tap “Import / Export contacts” > “Import from SD Card
    6. If necessary, select the backup file you want to restore
    7. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Back Up Media Files:

    1. Open “My Files
    2. Access “My Device” and tap “Menu
    3. Tap “Share” and select the media files you want to back up
    4. Tap “Share” again and select the desired location for sharing the files

    Restore Media Files:

    1. Launch “My Files
    2. Tap “SD Card” > “Menu
    3. Tap “Edit” and tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
    4. Tap “Menu” > “Move
    5. Access “My device” and tap “Move here
    6. Alternatively, to restore the media files in a different location, tap the folder name or “Create folder” > “Move here

    Back Up Media Files on a PC or Mac:

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
    3. Download and install Samsung Smart Switch on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung phone to your computer via USB and enable “File Transfer” / “Media device
    5. If necessary, install the required USB drivers on the computer
    6. When ready, launch Samsung Smart Switch
    7. Open the File Explorer/File Finder on the computer and locate the media files on the phone
    8. Copy and paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    9. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray (PC) or by dragging the virtual from the desktop (Mac) and dropping it into the “trash can

    Restore Media Files from a Computer:

    NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Smart Switch is already installed on your computer.

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
    3. Download and install Smart Switch on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung phone to your computer via USB
    5. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    6. Launch the File Explorer/File Finder on the computer
    7. Locate and copy the media file backups
    8. Paste the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
    9. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
