    4. Enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable these features
    3. Open “Settings” for additional options
    4. Go to “Location” for GPS options and tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
    5. To disable hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and disable the features

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Preferred network”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
    4. Change the available sync settings to reduce sync

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps”
    4. If necessary, switch to “All apps” and select the desired app
    5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
