    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features– such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable these features
    3. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    4. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    5. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Go to “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. For screen timeout options, tap “Sleep”
    7. Select a lower screen timeout value such as “15 seconds”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you might improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party applications.

    1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    2. Tap “Apps” and select “All apps” from the drop-down menu at the top
    3. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn the app off
    4. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
    4. Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
