    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use – including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, and GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Open “Settings”
    4. Go to “Location” for GPS options and tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
    5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature OFF

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Go to “Preferred network type”
    5. Select “2G”

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Access “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu”
    5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. For more options, open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout duration and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third-party apps you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Select “All apps” from the drop-down menu
    4. Select the desired application
    5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
    6. To remove the app, tap “Unisntall” to confirm

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
    3. Select an account type and the desired account
    4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Go to “About phone” and tap “System updates”
    3. Check if a new update is available for download
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
