Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    4. Tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout value

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Go to “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use – including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth – you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” toggles to turn the features off
    3. Next open “Settings”
    4. Tap “Location” for additional GPS options
    5. Tap “Mode” and select “battery saving”
    6. To disable hotspot go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature off

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Enable “2G”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by minimizing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
    3. Select the desired account
    4. Change the account’s settings to reduce sync

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Apps” and select “All apps” from the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired application
    5. To turn the app off, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Go to “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
