Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    2. In the quick toggle/notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
    3. For additional options launch “Settings”
    4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    5. For timeout options tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the device’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn these features OFF
    3. Next, open “Settings”
    4. Access “Location” for GPS options
    5. Tap “Mode”
    6. Enable “Battery saving”
    7. For hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature OFF

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Go to “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party applications perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery performance even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
    3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
    4. Select the desired app
    5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

    Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
    4. Select the desired account and change its settings to reduce sync

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Go to “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available for download
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
