Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings” for more options
    4. Go to “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. For timeout options tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: Your phone’s connectivity features like Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth can actively search for networks and affect battery life as a result. By disabling these features when not actively in use you can improve battery life.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable these features
    3. For more options open “Settings”
    4. Go to “Location”, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    5. For Hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Access “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and access “Apps”
    3. Make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired app
    5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
    6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

    Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “Accounts”
    3. Select an account type
    4. Select the desired account and change its settings to reduce sync as desired

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Verify if a new update is available for download
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
