    Clear an App’s Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! By clearing an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app, including login information, high scores, credit card information, user profiles etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Apps
    3. Select the desired app
    4. Access “Storage” > “Clear cache
    5. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the issues, try “Clear data” (check the Warning above)

    Reset the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you intend on fixing these issues by factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition instead. This can give similar results to a factory reset without losing any of your personal data on the phone storage.

    1. Turn the phone Off
    2. Next, press and hold “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
    3. Then press and hold “Power” too
    4. At the Android screen, release all the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
    5. Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing “volume down” repeatedly
    6. Highlight “Wipe data/factory reset” and press “Power” to select the option
    7. Highlight “Wipe cache partition” and press “Power
    8. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again
    9. Once the cache has been cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

    1. If necessary, turn the phone Off
    2. Then, press and hold “Power
    3. At the Samsung screen, release “Power” and quickly press and hold “Volume down” instead
    4. After the phone reboots, release all the buttons. Note that a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
    5. To remove an app, first go to “Settings
    6. Access “Apps
    7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” to confirm
    8. You can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as you would do normally
