    Clear an App’s Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes login information and user profiles, save files, progress etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to “Apps
    3. Select the desired app
    4. Go to “Storage” > “Clear cache
    5. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the issues, try “Clear data” (check Warning above)

    Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicable or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you are planning factory resetting it, alternatively you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data on the phone.

    1. Turn the device Off if necessary
    2. Press and hold “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time, then press and hold “Power” as well
    3. At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for the Recovery menu
    4. In recovery, press “volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset
    5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    6. Highlight “Wipe cache partition” and press “Power
    7. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again
    8. After the cache has been cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

    1. Turn the phone Off if necessary
    2. Press and hold “Power
    3. At the Samsung screen, release “Power” and quickly press and hold “Volume down” instead
    4. Once the phone reboots, release all the buttons. A “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
    5. To uninstall an app, first open “Settings” then go to “Apps
    6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall
    7. To exit Safe Mode, reboot the device as you would do normally
