    I have an IpPhone Xr purchased from and locked to Canada Bell. Apple states that to use dual SIM from two different carriers on an iPhone Xr the device must be UNLOCKED. This implies that I can only use dual SIM with a SIM card from Canada Bell. Canada Bell states that their dual sim service can be used with International Carriers.

    The symptom is that when I insert the second (physical) SIM card, the phone goes into activation dialogue and then fails because the carrier I am using is not authenticating. Should I have purchased an UNLOCKED iPhone?
