You can buy bitcoin on any of the exchanges (I use https://cryptobuyer.com/ but BTC apparently also works well). You transfer your dollars or euros or whatever, and you get a certain amount of bitcoins in an exchange, but they are only a register in your account, nothing physical. But, these days, most economic transactions don't involve physical cash anyway ...
This is why I can recommend cryptobuyer and assure you that you will not be disappointed

The World Is Going to Hell: The best reason for buying Bitcoin has always been as a hedge against market uncertainty. Advocates love stories about a coming market crash, the inherent corruption of the Federal Reserve and the ability of banks around the world to create “fiat money,” backed only by their local economies.

There are places where this fear is real, and where cryptocurrencies — whose quantity is fixed by math — can be a great hedge. Countries like Zimbabwe, where the government has destroyed the local currency, now have active Bitcoin markets. The activity of Japan’s market stems, in part, from distrust of the country’s policy of monetary easing, which has seen the value of the yen from 75 to the dollar five years ago to 111 today.

Coinbase is fine, the fees aren't an issue unless you are a trader. Just now it looks like BTC is more popular and should be easy to move as it's accepted almost all bitcoin places I have seen. I don't plan on using it to buy clothes or anything, just looking for some to hold as "alternative investments or using an automated trading bot to execute profitable trades on my behalf.

When choosing an exchange service, you need to pay attention to fees (https://bitniex.com/fees) first. The lower the better. Therefore, I buy and sell bitcoin through https://bitniex.com/exchange service. This is most convenient. I think soon the BTC rate will noticeably grow.

Do you really need to buy Bitcoin for 12 grand now? This is what you should ask yourself first. As for me, I am not an idiot. So I earn on more predictable things, like sports betting for example. You just come to https://livescores.biz and check the scores. This is absolutely not a rocket science.

You can use https://btcbit.net/buy-ethereum-eth-with-credit-card to buy crypto online. There are a lot of different interesting opportunities that are helping to solve this problem and also to get more information about how to buy crypto online.
