Soundforge is probably the most powerful I've used myself. Unfortunately last time I tried to use it, it was from the audio out RCA's on my cable box, through an RCA - 1/8" headphone converter, and I got a really bad buzz in the background, like it had too much power. Probably just need to filter it through something that can handle the power and tone it down.

I like to use SoundForge.....works great for me!

Goldwave is a good proggy, and should work really well...
Otherwise, you could try Cool Edit Pro, Steinberg WavLab, Soundforge, Sonar/Cakewalk Pro or any of the other popular audio editing software...

I'd use Cool Edit or WavLab Personally.

I wish I knew the answer to this, but have unfortunately had similar experiences. Have you tried GoldWave?

Further to my last posting...

after adjusting the Audio controls, I got the Windows 'Sound recorder' to record from the 'Line In' connection, but theres two problems.
1) The bass is far too strong and
2) It stops after only 60 seconds.

Cant see any adjustments for this, so I am back to square one... still looking for an alternative piece of software to record my sound input.

I want to play a midi file on my keyboard and record it on my PC, preferably in a .WAV format.

I have the hardware connected and when I play the file, it comes out through the PC's speakers.

But.... what software can I use to capture the sound?

Windows Recorder seems to record only from the Mic. My objective is to create an audio CD with tracks played by my keyboard.
