I love windows xp but its so locked up its crazy.

APPLE MAC OSX wipes the floor with XP it is beautiful, stable adn most of all WORKS! everything you have commended the XP OS for the OSX has done a long time previous.. also PRICE POINT!!!! windows XP PRO is £295 currently here in the UK, where as...... you could buy 3 copies of OSX for that, more to the point, you could buy a brand new Mac Mini for £350 that is a fully functioning computer with an exceptionally small footprint, resonabley high spec, full copy of OSX, iLife and iWork!!!!
windows 2k is the only windows i run and that is purely as a machine my mum can use! you wanna know why? cos it doesnt matter if it dies. windows operating systems are over priced, under powered, under secure and processor intensive! all in all, bunch of w@nk

XP is good OS if it's fully free

IMHO, Windows XP is the most stable Windows, but it needs powerful PC and must be tuned and optimized. Only after that it will be fast and good.

I know I'm extremely late, but I've still got '95 and my computer ALWAYS feezes, generates errors ("Explorer/WIndows has performed an illegal operation, McoDD8c must be shut down", etc.), and is just waaaaaaayyyy too plain. My mom won't even let me download or change the background! (We have the 'none' background...the plain green one) Now IE doesn't even work, and I'm about ready to blow this ****wit of an OS and upgrade to XP. But now that u ppl talk about it that way, I dunno if I should...although I've used it and it worked perfectly at my dad's house.

i have a mac G5 comp and a dell xp laptop. i dont really like xp, thats why i bought a mac. i like the mac os but it doesnt run ANY programs i have other than apples ilife and office x for mac. windows 2000 is better than xp even though it doesnt have the cool interface. it seems the longer u have xp on a compuetr the worse it gets. thats why i have to format my comp every 6months or else it runs PAINFULLY SLOW!!! i cant wait for the next windows update in 2006, i really hope it'll be better.

I disagree. I think Microsoft has come a long way with their OS development. Previous versions were a lot worse. Look at it this way...Microsoft either has to listen to their users or they are going to get put out of business by a company who cares. This topic is tired. No one likes Microsoft.

When I finish college I intend on getting a G5 because I'm a media-centered user (video editing, design and music). Apple makes great computers although I don't know if you'd call them superior by any definition. It's just a more viable choice for someone such as myself. That's my 2 pennies on the issue. It's diff for everyone.

well...yea...xp is gud in some places...and some in not..but its still better than the earlier os's...

if you don't know a thing bout that yet...well...it changes the whole theme of your windows xp...it works for 2000..but..not everything is changed..

I hate XP..but thats probably the only OS that has support for nearly everything.. And I will always stay away from linux after it f**kin curropted my partition table which sucked bigtime..

You sure need a better computer, try just to add ram and you should see a difference. XP is one of the best for security but you have to know how it works.
