the pana x70 is not bad, however they could have improved more.
take a look at the new siemens sx1 or the ericsson p900. Those are some "handy" phones.

I work in a job where I get to play with phones and give them back to the manufacturers. Often a few months before released.
Think the x70 will sell for around $US500 or so outright.

    Things I like over the 87/88 are;
Better form factor - not so visible in pics but feels better to hold, both in the hand and when calling.
Much better poly volume (for tones formated as mmf)
    Camera light
    More memory
    Lights in keypad

The Samsung E700 is also nice, a worthy rival for the x70. For most of the same key reasons.

Don't like the Sony Ericsson Z600. Too chunky, camera is ordinary and poly playback is too soft

x70 plays ring tones louder than the 87/88.

Yamaha chipset makes a big difference.
Can also embed 'real' sounds and voices in MMF tones.
PSMplayer is great for formatting/converting tones from midi.

hi Marsha, seems to me like you know what you're talking about, cool!! I always find that not one mobile phone has everything i need and i have to go out with something when getting a phonn, a shame really! I run my own IT consultancy firm and one thing i have found on the GD87 was the exen format for games, and no possible way of getting the exen games on to the phone, but now that panasonic have gone to JavaML, means i can test the gaming on the phone and other apps which is great as my customers like to keep up with technological advances! i think the GD60 is a very cool phone especially with the changeable covers, but i will have to go for the gd70. One thing i have noticed is a conflict in the size of the phone book, from reviews it says 200 but at panasonic it says 500! I hope i can get one soon!!

You are absolutely right. They do point out that the X60 is placed between the X70 and the GD87, which means that the X70 is more advanced.
To bad you have to make a choice between style/design and functionalities... But ok it isn't thát bad, since the X70 does have a great design too ánd the X60 is filled with great functionalities aswell.
Ideal would be the design from the X60 with the functionalities from the X70, but god knows what kind of marketingplan Panasonic has, that they choose not to..

nice!!! But noticed a few anomolies, no blue tooth and not the 500 entries like the X70!! I think i will stick to the x70 as i would be using the blue tooth feature for hands free usage in car!

Hi Damindra, it's really nice, BUT I have my own favourite new Panasonic phone you might be interested in: the X60!
It's very small and you can change the covers!!!

    Check it out!
