If you do a search on google for an ir remote control you should be able to find one. If this doesn't work, go to my-symbian.com and search for one there. I had the program for my P900, but it didn't seem to work, even when I had the phone's infrared directly lined up with the tv's sensor. Does anyone know what the deal is? Maybe I just had a faulty program?

So I take it the general consensus is buy a TV remote, not a mobile phone?

Yes, it also worked with the Nokia 7650. But the T610 IR is so low, when there would be a proggy, you should sit directly in front of your tv to control it. The distance shouldn't be higher than 60 centimeters.

Just get a PDA and use that....most new PDAs have high-power infrared for this purpose.

Found some info about this, check the links:

if you have a sony-ericsson t68 or a t610 here is some software to control your pc with:
    http://www.christersson.org/software.php

if you have bluetooth you could check this thread out:
    http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3388

the best program for any IR control is girder ( www.girder.nl). I think it allows control using the irda port but I'm not 100% sure. Check out the forum at www.girder.nl for more information/help.

    Good luck.

IrDA transceivers in notebooks and cell phones are design to transfer data at high speeds (up to 4mbit/sec in some models), so this make they a short-range IR devices.
Even slow tranfer rate, even greater range. For sample, the old HP 95LX have a 2400 bps (yeah, very slowly) tranceiver, and it can manage remote control at 5 meters about...

I'm using the software for the P800 and range is only 1 meter. And you have to have it lined up to the IR receiver, you can't point to it at an angle.

I have a T300 and i already searched for it too, but i didn't found anything.
And Komikozi's right, it's probably too far. Too bad though..

Even if it was to come out, the IR distances are much too small to control a TV that is more than 3 feet away.
