OEM is definitely the best; USB is much quicker than serial and it may be that your computer doesn't have serial anymore neways. however, with USB sometimes there are driver problems but not usually. you should look up the hardware section in nextel on howardforums.com...that will help out a bit. you'll need myJal software which you can find as a sticky in the software section.
if you have any other questions just ask!

Okay, so if I choose one from ebay, what would be the best cable compatible with the i95cl. Will I need to get certain software, and if so, which software works well and is compatible with the i95cl? Is it any better to get a OEM instead of a generic cable?

no, there's no way to get OTA without the download apps. you should be able to get a data cable for about $10 on ebay. if you want the download apps back you're gonna have to either take it to a nextel store or get the cable.

I don't want to have to go out and buy a data cable.. but if I do, where can I get a cheap one? But if its possible, is there ANY way I can get apps over the air without the Download Apps application?

no...what did you use it for anyway? most all java apps can be found on howardforums.com and all you need is a loader and a data cable. you shouldn't have to pay on idenupdate!
