edit: i took a peek at the hofun thing just to see what all the hype was about. its strict and organized which i like but the setup is ehhhh. the alphabetical order thing is cool but how are you supposed to know when something new is added? that and u really cant leave feedback like if u want something edited or whatever
yeah those were the same kind of problems i had with their ringtone setup, but now i reopened "190feens world of midis" there so that people can post midis, give feedback on them, edit them, request and pretty much talk about whatever.it's kinda like a midi lounge.also i'm a mod in the midi forums so i can pretty much keep it all in line

    Hidden Content

go down to results #6 and click "cached" to view the page

"I have a VX6000. I just took a 26K mp3 file, changed the filename from "name.mp3" to "name.mp3.midi" and emailed it to my Hidden Content . Saved the sound from the pix message on my phone, assigned it as a ringtone...and...

IT WORKS! It rings on the EXTERNAL speaker, unlike qcp files, which will ring only on the earpiece...so MP3's will work on the external speaker, as far as i can tell."

and lucifer i would guess these tones should go in the LG forum so as to not confuse people

CMX midi... gimme a sec i'll have to look that one up i'm not familiar with that term

and also the thing plays in winamp

    edit: here it is
"The VX6000 has "CMX MIDI." It's not really a difference, it's just an enhanced way to play MIDI.

The VX6000 has true MIDI, that's why we can send MIDIs directly to the phone. It has 128 defined samples for General MIDI, and being a MIDI composer, I must say the samples used are very close to a standard PC's GM soundfont.

Now for the CMX part. I looked this up and it appears to be a type of "queueing" system in order to sync pictures and animation to the MIDI. This creates a better presentation when sending picture messages consisting of music pics and text, and (in theory) adds value and incentive to customers to send more pix messages to each other (IMO it's a gimmick).

I'm happy to own a phone that plays MIDIs, because the first polyphonic ringer systems were pretty bad-sounding. "

well that didnt tell me anything

it works just fine for me..
