I hear Nokia is really good, but make sure you get a phone that works on both 850 and 1900 mhz

Make sure you have analog capability on your phone and service that supplies it. In the boondocks, you gonna need it. Where CDMA, TDMA, GSM isn't; analog might be.

Reception definitely depends on the service provider. I think At&t's TDMA works better than GSM. Verizon's CDMA seems to work well just about anywhere. But as far as a phone that works best functionally? I'd definitely have to say the Motorolla V60 is the best phone of all time in that category.

Whats so great about this phone is they made so many different versions for just about every major network and provider so anyone can get one. Theres the V60, the V60i, the V60iT, the V60P, I mean soo many. I just think overall, it's an absolutely amazing phone.

Second place, again strictly on functionality is the Nokia 3300 series. The 3360 was TDMA and worked well, this was back when Nokia's numbering actually meant which band the phone worked for. But I think the 3390 was the best GSM alternative.

Overall, I'd definitely have to give a handsdown unanmious decision to the V60. Its worth having one around just incase you ever need it.

Figure out the cell service you want first and the coverage they have where you need it.

After that then figure out the phone.

I will be working on a harvest crew this summer and will be traveling through Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas, and I need a phone that will get good reception. Which cell phone do you think gets the best reception?

    Thanks,
    Sven
