just buy a prepaid phone. you can do it at any cell phone store and i think even some gas stations.

prepaid is kinda like a temp sim card except you can keep it as long as u like. just make sure ur phone is unlocked. i don't think u can rent phones....

I was told you can but it costs money to just buy the sim card. I think it's around...$25 - $35 depending which company and where you get it at. I don't know about the limitations. You can always check out a local phone store when you get to the US.

    Hi all,

I'm traveling to the US and want to get a "temporary SIM" card for my Nokia GSM phone. In Asia, we can buy a temp SIM with credits (for example $50) and it has a local phone number included. Can I do the same in the US?

I want to avoid roaming, long-distance charges, etc while I'm there and make local (US calls).

This is the only method i can think of that would do that. Any other method? Or can i rent a phone? how much?

    Thanks all.

    Tri
