    You can unlock Your phone without cable and IrDA. Just use calculator!
    I think IrDA can't do some things, but if You want to upload games, pictures and tones only than IrDA is better one!

    I am thinking about getting a 6610

    is it possible to do EVERYTHING I can do with a datacable over IR?

    including unlocking. is there any advantage to having a cable over IR? thanks for any help you guys can give...
