I think it will work. I had a prepaid account with T-mobile ( when they were voicestream) and a plan, when one of my batteries would die I could just switch the sim and use the other phone. I'm not sure if other providers have different technology for their prepaid accounts but I would highly doubt it.

    I agree with Mark -

the shop where you buy a pre pay sim should be able to tell you if it is the same as the sim in your old phone (take it with you to the shop)...

I have a 3rd generation phone which has a 'u' sim - I cannot use a pre pay sim in my phone or it will kill my phone!!

Just ask at the shop where you buy pre paid

If the pay as you go sim is on the same network as the old sim it should work!

I have an old phone that still has the sim card in it. Does anyone know if this could be used with a pay as u go card?

If not, is it wise...or worthy to try for one off ebay?
