I called LG today, twice for a total of about 1.5 hrs. and the result----You CANT transfer photos that are 640x480 period, it will causse the phone to freeze, and after two "Support engineers" and one "Tech" what I got out of it is the reason why you cant----so that you HAVE to pay your providor to MMS them or Email. Im sure someone, sometime will figure a way to do it, but looks like Im returning my phone, and trading for the moto v400, not as cool, and sleek, but it works.

I am currently able to tansfer pics and data from my lg1200. I am using a serial/usb cable ( the ones with the box in th emiddle of th cable along with the software for the L1100 obtained from lg's UK site. I found all of this from Howard forums. in the lg threads.
    lg Uk site
I just got this yesterdat and have not had the opportumiy to try any java yet.

The cable I am using is a serial/usb converter that I got on Ebay, there are dozens being offered for less than the cost of shipping. Most are labelled for the L1200 as well as the l4050. The cable I reeived actually has a llabel on it with LG600. It is true that the straight USB cables (without the box in the middle) will not owrk. Although they pulg into a USBport they emulate a serial connection, usaully at Com4.

i'll post info on my set up in a couple of days....I'm kinda swamped right now, I might be able to tonight, but more likely wed or thurs....

the speed isn't too bad...if I transfer a 12Kb ring, it takes about 10 seconds to upload

    transfer works sweet!

    Thanks Evilclone, you da man!
    Hey tyshubrick,

How did u go about setting it up? Please give details. How fast are transfers? They are slow for me but I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that I'm using IR or what. Glad to see i found some usefull info that helped you and hopefull more to come. O yea and yea it would be nice to make this a stickey.

Ok i got it to work and its sweet...

    you can upload/download images
    download ringtones (in mmf format)
    edit/backup phonebook
    backup/send text messages
and i forget if there is anything else

one draw back is that u cant get it to send java games/apps

    My specs.
    Phone: LG L1200
    Comp: IMB Thinkpad 600
    Comp OS: Windows XP SP2

Ok well i just got this laptop back after thinking it was dead cause i spilt soda on it. I started redoin it when i rembered it had a ir port, so i did a seacrh and found that page.
Even tho i used an IR port im sure you can use a cabel. If i had a cabel i would try it but yea.

This is what i did to get it to work with my situation

    1) In Windows, select [Control Panel][Wireless Link][Hardware]
    Device: IrDA Fast Infrared Port
    Select [Properties][Advanced]
    Property: Infrared Transceiver B
    Value: Siemens IRMS/T6400

    2) Install IrCOMM2K-1.2.1

    3) Install LG GSM software

    4) In LG Contents Bank, select [Tool][Option] and set
    Mode = Infrared
Setting Port = Virtual IR COM Port (COM4)
    Setting Baud = 115200

    5) Enjoyed

    hope this hellps yall
