exactly. its not something picked up overnight. if it comes naturally then it comes naturally. others, you'll have to learn from the beginning. last time i took a music class was back in 6th grade and we learned all the basics about music but it was mostly terminology- quarter/whole/half notes, flats, majors, trebles, staffs, all that crap.

i'm sure theres more advanced music classes offered in high school. ask around with your counselors, take one as an elective. pick up what u can

for sure they'll have em at universities. my friend took the most basic one at the community college- "Music Appreciation." its probaly called "Intro to music" or something similar everywhere else. her final was to compose an original composition, so i'm sure they'll teach u something besides just terminology. and no, the "original composition" final didnt have to be like a full-length beethoven symphony. i was gonna take it this fall but i switched schools so i dropped it before the semester started. theres also a class that specifically trains your ears so that u pick up notes like nothin

of course after all that u need to learn to transfer that knowledge to the keyboard and the comp

I can't seem to find any good MIDI making software.
go to yahoo, type midi maker. free 50 use trial. it's da shizzle to start with. then you'll have to use sonar, anvil or cakewalk to tweak the extras.

I take it you guys just creat ehtese ringtones in your spare time? Or is does your job involve music creation.
i had to get GZA - killa hills 10324. top twenty classic. i got tired of waiting (nobody would make it) so i made it. i started making 'em while i was home from knee surgery for 6 weeks. workin' and a drought of good new music made me slow down a lot. there's still not a whole lot comin' out (that ain't already been made at least). i mostly make real beats for some homeboys in my town.

i play by ear i could get a melody down in the keyboard in like 5 seconds...
i hear that. i've tried to teach people to play musicby ear, but how do you convey that?

i really think if ANYONE want's to start playing music, go buy a $99 casio keyboard (or yamaha) and you will eventually get it. go buy a $3 poster at any local music store that has the keyboard chords. (you won't really use them all that much but it's great for learning, there's one for guitar's too) then you can translate that to guitar, bass and all sorts of other instruments. i picked up a freakin' BANJO and started playing it at the guitar shop one time. it was pretty strange...yes sireee.. deliverance was what i played.

^^ thats no excuse... you should ask areound what programs to use...

i personally use FLStudio to make the midis that i make

and sonar to edit the instruments, cuz FL f*cks them up on export

I'm also good with music and notes. I'll hear the tune and be able to play it on my keyboard but I can't seem to find any good MIDI making software.

If I had one I'll be up there with Mokdude and Deville making some of the top tones.

Yeah, sports is one of mine too. It's the music thing that I've always wanted. Did you develop it mostly through working at it or was it like a natural thing?

Cool. I have always wished that I had that gift. Instead of that I got the abilty to draw well. Ironically though, I am colorblind. Can't have my cake and eat it to.
