hee! alive - i tried that!

thanks everyone for your help - i ended up calling Motorola, and they determined they had sent me the wrong part number!

my new cable came today, and it fits in *easily*

the difference between the two cables, is, the "right" one has the small metal hooks point out of the "sides" of the connector, and the other one i had, had the metal hooks point out of the "top" of the connector. plus the new cable doesn't have a "charger" section on it.

thanks again for all your help and ideas!

    grrl -

try shaving the two plastic bits on the end (on the cable) that plug into the squarish slots on both sides of the connectors on the bottom of the phone. They may be slightly big...

    thanks GT -

that is what i've been doing - but the cable doesn't seem to "fit" in completely, it goes in at an angle, or not at all.

This is not a i730 obviously but it uses the same cord and plugs into the same place. Sorry about the pic quality.

Bottom of phone with the rubber insert closed.

With your nail pull the rubber door insert open.

Push the cord into the bottom.

    hi -

i don't have a charger for the phone - i was given the phone, and it has a separate charger right now, so this is the first time i've tried to plug anything into the outlet on the phone.

it really doesn't go in easily

thanks for your help - maybe i'll take it into the nextel retailer here and see if they have any ideas

It plugs in the same way you put your charger on. Make sure that retractable rubber protector is clearly out of the way. You have the correct one and it should go on rather easily.

it is somewhat rounded, has a motorola m on it, and has a "button" on the end that you plug into the phone, that if you squeeze it, little metal teeth are retracted.

it also has a rounded piece in the middle of the cable, with a motorola symbol on it and the word "charge" - i guess you can plus a charging cable into it too?

    hope this helps!

    hey grrl..

is it a squarish data cable or a rounded one with the motorola M on it?
