Well, I have the problem fixed. My Secondary Drive went out completely, and it overheated because my power supply fan wasn't working. So, I removed the drive, replaced the power supply fan, and cut a hole in the side of my case and added another fan..

Try removing your secondary HDD(s) and reinstalling them.
Once you get your OS up and running (and hopefully recognizing all your drives) run chkdsk /f (scandisk on MS-DOS systems) from the Command Prompt on all drives/partitions.

    : Hi

i had the same problem before. i called the place where i got my computer, and the said that it just means that there is a disk in the a:/ or b:/ drive.

so i removed the disk, and sure enough it worked.

Don't like the sound of 'massively over-heated'!

If it was 'massively over-heated', your PC may be damaged. maybe hard drive, maybe motherboard. Difficult to say without swapping parts. Of course, there's a question which should be answered first... "Why was it 'massively over-heated' in the first place?. Check the fan on the power supply is working first and if not, get it fixed.

Try booting from a DOS floppy disk. (check your setup boots from A: drive). If it fails, take the PC to the workshop. It's bad!.

If it boots... the problem is probably with your hard disk. Now, ask yourself what you were doing when it all screwed up. Check your CMOS configuration. Are you booting from the primary hard drive or the secondary?. Are the hard drive parameters correct (ie, cylinders, sectors etc) or is it set for auto-detect (which is always better)?

Assuming, your hardware is not faulty, your CMOS is set to boot from the correct hard drive and the hard drive parameters are correct... and there's still a problem, probably you've corrupted the partition table or master boot block. Take it to the workshop and expect them to reformat your drive.

I don't think this is a minor problem... Sorry!.

I know it sounds a bit simple, but have you left a floppy disk in the drive? I only get an error like that when I left a diskette in from the last session. Is your computer a PC or a Mac?

I have a small problem...Or atleast I hope....I was setting some things up on my computer about 20 minutes ago, and decided to re-boot. Well, that is where the problem happened, It said "Disk Boot Error, Insert System Disk and Press Enter" I have absolutely no clue what to do. I thought maybe it had something to do with my secondary hard drive, so I unplugged everything, and surprise, surprise, the computer is massively over-heated. I still can't get past the error message....Can anybody give me any insight???
