Went to NEXTEL store and got mine fixed. They had to replace the whole flip. Would have been $55 with out insurance. Make sure you call and get insurance put on your phone before you go in.

Don't tell them it's from a i90, the rep at the repair facility won't be able to tell from just looking at it ... make sure that you update your serial number with Nextel first though so that there won't be any problems when the paperwork gets to them

Insurance companies do not give you new phones ... they are refurbs, unless they are completely out of refurbs (which rarely happens)

    Turn the phone off
Press and hold down the 1,2, and 3 buttons
while holding those buttons down turn the phone on
The screen should display LCD Contrast
press the right selection button (Skip)
if you get a screen that has text, press the right selection button again, then follow the instructions below...
When you get a screen with colorful lines press any button 2 times
press the speaker button on top of the phone (by the antennae)
    close flip
press the direct connect button 8 times
    open flip
press volume up key on side of phone
press volume down key on side of phone
If at this time you do not hear a tone out of the earpiece your phone needs to be replaced or repaired
If you do hear a tone, the there must be a setting that needs to be changed

If you do not know someone who can fix your phone, your service provider can normally replace it for you at a nominal fee assuming you have no "Physical or Liquid damage" ... Service plans are great, a lot of times you can get away with signing up, having the phone replaced then canceling a month later with no penalty. ASK BEFORE you try: Is there a service plan? How much Monthly? Is there a penalty at any time if I decide to stop participating with the service plan?

I have the same problem. I have insurance on mine, so I'm just going to destroy it and get a new one. If I'm gonna pay $35 to have it fixed, might as well pay $35 and get a new one.

I had the same problem. My phone was only a month old. I had to send it off to motorola. When you send it off you dont have to leave your sim card in so they will never know. Good luck!!

I have a i730 and it always worked fine but 2 days a go a started having a problem with it..the speaker that you put your ear up a to stop working and now the only way to talk on my phone is with the speaker phone..also when i hit a key on the pad i don't hear anything...i thinking that the key pad sound comes from the same speaker(the ear one)...so what is wrong ..do i have a bad speaker..also i can't go to a nextel store to get it fixed because my sim card is from a i90 and they know this and refuse to work on it.
    Please help Thanks Mark
