    Yeah its the same here, if you spen over €100 on credit in a year, you can be unlocked!

    I'm not sure what the deal is with that carrier but with my carrier they will unlock the phone if you spend a certain amount with them (I think it is $200) and with another phone I had (a prepay) I just had to buy some more credit and they unlocked it for me.

    Well he wouldn't of baught it straight from the shop unlocked anyway! So unless he baught it himself second hand, then he wasn't being honest with you im afraid!

    I just recently purchased an 'unlocked' motorola t720 phone from ebay. I was curious to know how he went about unlocking it. I should have asked the seller BEFORE I paid for it, but I didnt. He replied that he 'bought it unlocked'. He had it with cingular and got it about 2 years ago.. I thought all phones were locked to their carrier. Is it possible he only THINKS its unlocked? Or does/did cingular sell unlocked phones?
    I will be asking him more about it, I just thought I may get more of an honest answer here
